The Stocker Arts Center of Lorain County Community College proudly
announces the
upcoming Performing Artist Series presentation of

                             “Contact”

  Monday, February 21 - 7:30 pm

                     Good Seats Still Available!

Winner of the 2000 Tony Award for Best Musical, “Contact” is, more
accurately, a theater piece
that defies categorization. On one hand, it is a bold step away from
traditional musical comedy.
On the other hand, it is a hybrid of so much familiar – from Broadway to
silent movies and
MGM musicals to television sketches – that it feels like an old friend
from the start. This
smash dance musical by Susan Stroman was praised for its originality
when it opened to
critical raves in New York. In addition to the Tony, the show won every
major award including
the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards for Best
Musical.
The show was hailed by Time Magazine for “kicking the dust off a tired
old Broadway” and
welcomed as “inventive, exuberant, and refreshing.”

“Contact” is divided into three stories each about people in the wild
pursuit of love,
each story inspires, each story makes distinct contact with the
audience… and the
last one will have you seeing yellow for weeks! Critics have been
hard-pressed to
define the show. A musical without singers? A dance play? A
dancical? Whatever
you want to call it, what you get with “Contact” is a fabulously
free-wheeling tale that
bursts with pure joy and pathos, all brilliantly told through music and
dance
–everything from ballet to swing, from Tchaikovsky to Robert Palmer.

The touring production of “Contact” hits the stage of the Stocker Arts
Center on
Monday, February 21, 2005. Curtain time is 7:30p.m., and good seats are
