 FEBRUARY 15th GANG PROGRAM

GANG Hosts Digital Artist Michael Nekic
Artists and art lovers are invited to meet digital artist Michael Nekic
at the February program meeting of the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG).
The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the
Café in Heinen’s at 402 Center Street, in Chardon, on Tuesday, February
15, 2005, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Hostess for the evening will be Marie
Cartor of The Corner of Art and Function.
Nekic, who lives in Chardon, has been creating artworks using digital
photo manipulation for ten years. His earlier work in fine art
photography used conventional methods to alter images, and included
solarized prints, infrared photography, and double and triple exposures.
His altered photographic prints include landscapes, black and white
works, abstract geometrical configurations, figure studies, and even
fantasy and science fiction imagery.
Already his work has garnered international recognition, with an
honorable mention from the prestigious Digital Hall of Fame competition
sponsored by EFX magazine of Sweden. He was the first artist to be
exhibited in the Peter B. Lewis Building in Cleveland’s University
Circle. Through February 18th, an exhibit of 60 of his works can be
viewed at Fairmount Art Center (call 440-338-3171 for exhibit hours).
The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to
promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across artistic
disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County. For
further information, contact Joanne Durante, 440-729-6481.
