The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater is pleased to announce its first Mainstage production of the 2005 season with a pair of one-act plays: Plaza Suite’s “A Visitor from Forest Hills” and Magic Time. Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, March 4-19, at 8:00 PM. A matinee performance is slated for Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 PM. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens.

The show will open with a one-act play from Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. The play, called “A Visitor from Forest Hills,” is a comedy that focuses on the angst of the parents of a bride who has “cold feet” just before her wedding. The story unfolds as the parents argue over the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and into the ballroom for the ceremony. Directed by and starring Sue Jeromson and George Lasecki.

Magic Time, written by James Sherman, is a dramatic comedy about a troupe of actors preparing to give their last performance of Hamlet. The show reveals that the backstage relationships of the actors in this troupe mirror those onstage. The show provides a “behind the scenes” look at the lives and relationships of the actors themselves. Directed by Bob Kmiecik. Starring Colleen Bender as Joan, Chris Boros as Chris (Horatio), Marissa DeSantis as Laurie (Ophelia), Brian Hutchison as David (Hamlet), Michael Rogan as Alan (Polonius), Bob Hagaman as Scott (Claudius), Gina Turella as Ann (Gertrude), and Arthur Wise as Larry (Laertes).

Audiences will also enjoy a gallery exhibit by artist Lisa Paulovcin. Ms. Paulovcin is an award-winning artist and Fine Art student whose focus medium is in oil painting and charcoal/sketch. The exhibit will be open one-half hour prior to curtain and at intermission on performance dates.

Finally, audiences will have a chance to sample a wide variety of flavorful coffees and decadent desserts at intermission, served in a coffee house format. A small donation is requested.
