Ukrainian-born singer Mariana Sadovska has spent years collecting=20
ancient folk songs in rural Ukraine and Poland.  Combining story=20
telling with singing, her performances are a theatrical expression of=20
her inner desire to connect the past with the present through music. =20
On Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 8 p.m. she will present some of these=20
musical treasures at Orthodox located at 6203 Detroit Avenue in=20
Cleveland, Ohio.  Tickets are $15 - general admission.
	On Friday, April 8, 2005 from 7-10 p.m.  Sadovska will lead a =
singing=20
workshop.  For many years she has conducted workshops emphasizing=20
=93white voice=94 (open throat) singing from Eastern European musical=20
traditions.  Based on her experience with the Gardzienice Theatre of=20
Poland, she has developed a system of exercises for enabling=20
participants to discover the connections between movement and singing,=20=

gesture and sound, rhythm and breath.  She has lead workshops at the=20
Grotowski Center (Poland), Giving Voice Festival (Great Britain),=20
International Workshop Festival (Israel) and the Royal Shakespeare=20
Company in London.  The cost of the workshop is $20.  You do not need=20
to be able to read music
to participate.  Come dressed for movement.
