To coincide with the opening of GUNNER PALACE, a new documentary from a
soldier’s view of the Iraq War (approaching the two-year anniversary), Jon
Powers, a featured member of the documentary, will be available for a Q & A
after the 7:20 PM showing at the Cedar Lee on March 18, 2005.

Synopsis

Four months after President Bush declared the end of "major combat"
operations in Iraq, American soldiers of the 2/3 Field Artillery AKA the
"Gunners," continued to endure what they jokingly call "minor combat." Their
barracks are the bombed out pleasure palace (complete with swimming pool and
putting green) of Sadaam Hussein's son - located right in the middle of the
most volatile section of Baghdad. With total access to all unit operations
and activities, filmmaker Michael Tucker provides an inside look at the war
not seen on the nightly news. Gunner Palace is a chaotic, surprising, real
and sometimes amusing look inside the Iraq war as experienced and told first
hand by our troops.

ALSO…

The most expensive Anime Movie ever made and from the Director of AKIRA,
STEAMBOY opens at the Cedar Lee Friday, March 18, 2005.

Synopsis

A retro science-fiction epic set in Victorian England, Steamboy features an
inventor prodigy named Ray Steam who receives a mysterious metal ball
containing a new form of energy capable of powering an entire nation. This
young boy must use it to fight evil, redeem his family, and save London from
destruction. The lush Victorian interiors and the elegance of the era's
mechanical design allows Otomo to create dazzling visual backgrounds and
machines for this film.
