All performances will be at the historic Belle Stone School Auditorium, 2100 Rowland Ave. N.E., Canton. MADAME SHERRY will be directed by Joseph N. Rubin. Musical Director, Dr. Sebastian A. Birch will lead a 10 piece orchestra. Tickets are $15.00 for general admission and $10.00 for students and seniors. MADAME SHERRY was one of the most famous American operettas in the era preceding World War I and has not been revived in more than 50 years. The show’s lilting score contains the song hit “Every Little Movement Has A Meaning All Its Own.” Composer Karl Hoschna also composed the song standard “Cuddle Up a Little Closer, Lovey Mine.” Librettist, Otto Harbach went on to write the books and lyrics for such successes as THE DESERT SONG, NO, NO, NANETTE and ROBERTA. The plot of MADAME SHERRY concerns Edward Sherry who runs the Sherry School of Aesthetic Dancing. He pretends that he is married and has children in order to wheedle some money out of his wealthy uncle. This leads to a series of mistaken identities which provide much of the fun in the show. The Canton Comic Opera Company’s production will feature a 10 piece orchestra performing the original orchestrations recently discovered at the Library of Congress.

The Canton Comic Opera Company’s 2005 season will continue with a production of THE PRINCE OF PILSEN (1903) by Gustav Luders and Northeastern Ohio native Frank Pixley in July, 2005
