Thank you Counsellor (and AC). For years theArts Network has advocated
for community service through theArts. Your comments run close to the
bone here.
It is a tricky venture injecting creative intervention into rigid
community structures but it can be done. There are sooooo many
worthwhile service projects that a little creative energy could turn
into a humanist miracle.
In the present 'pro-Arts' environment it has been very interesting to
witness the birth of wonderfully collaborative artforms. Giving back to
the community is as much a part of the artistic process as counting box
office receipts. It is surprising how long it has taken for Cleveland
to officially recognize creative folk as 'the untapped community
resource'.
One thing for sure, the Network will continue to 'create 21st century
solutions' where community service through the Arts is a viable remedy.
