Students to Hold Tsunami Relief Concert

An outdoor rock concert to benefit the victims of the Southeast Asia
tsunami will be held this Saturday, May 7, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.  The
concert will take place in front of the Western Reserve Academy Chapel
located on College Street, one block east of Route 91, just north of
downtown Hudson.  Only folding chairs and blankets will be permitted for
concert seating.  

The event will feature local bands; Richard Fleming, Motive, Amadeus and
Ecliptic.  Richard Fleming is a band made up of students from the
Western Reserve Academy.  Motive, Amadeus and Ecliptic were formed by
Hudson students and all competed at this year's ninth annual Ohio High
School Rock Off.  Ecliptic took top honors, winning a prize package
valued at $15,000.  All bands have agreed to donate their time and
talents to this cause.

The concert is a result of joint planning between Katie Gruman and Piper
Beckwith-Collings of Western Reserve Academy and Kristina Clementi and
Kick Rakotci of Hudson High School.

Tickets will be $10.00 at the gate and a food concession will be
available. Concert proceeds will benefit the Tsunami relief
organization Hands on Thailand in their efforts to assist victims in
rebuilding their lives and communities ( <http://www.handsonglobal.org/>
www.handsonglobal.org). College Street will be closed between Hudson
Street and Baldwin Street and hour before and after the concert. Rain
date is Sunday, May 8, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. WRA is a smoke-free
environment. 
Hands on Thailand is an all-volunteer humanitarian team formed to
respond to the recovery of villages and communities badly hit by the
Tsunami in December 2004. The project started in the small area of Bang
Tao beach that was heavily hit by the Tsunami. An American businessman
residing in Phuket, Mike Cegielski, founded Hands On Thailand just days
after the tidal wave hit.
