WIZARDS OF
THE ACOUSTIC
GUITAR— PART 2

Friday, May 6
8:00 PM

Featuring virtuoso acoustic guitar performances by 2000 National Fingerstyle champion Pete Huttlinger, 2004 National Guitarmagedon champion Michael Kelsey and multi award winning Northeast OH native Brian Henke.

Finger-style wizard Pete Huttlinger was the National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion of 2000. His most well known CD, Naked Pop, has received critical acclaim and was chosen by famed rock guitarist Steve Vai (who refers to Huttlinger as "a world class talent") to launch his Favored Nations Acoustic label.

One of only three guitarists to be invited to participate in Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Huttlinger displays "an amazing display of fingerstyle mastery...scary stuff" according to Guitar Player magazine. The cum laude graduate from the acclaimed Berklee College of Music in Boston has performed with many well-known artists, including James Taylor, John Denver, Neil Young, LeAnn Rimes and Brad Paisley.

Brian Henke - a finalist in The National Fingerstyle Competition in Winfield, Kansas possessing amazing technique is also considered by many to be the "pastoralist" of acoustic guitar. Brian approaches his music like a painter uses color to create landscapes, often hiking with his guitar into the locations he describes.

Although a Northeast, Ohio native, Brian tours all over the US and his first three CD's, "Many Waters", "|Love Song for Terra" and "Force of Nature" have all garnered local, national and international attention and airplay. His much anticipated fourthCD,"The Nature of Light" is due out May 5th,2005 and advance copies have already found their way onto the airwaves. It also features four songs written for and performed on the one of a kind 29 string double neck harp guitar known as the "Dreamcaster".

"Both hands are everywhere at once, often doing the work of two or more guitarists" —The Cleveland Free Times

Those who see a performance by Michael Kelsey gain a whole new level of appreciation for the artist's amazing technique, his astounding fingerwork and his free flowing improvisation. A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Michael Kelsey cut his musical teeth on electric lead and bass guitars in a variety of cover bands from progressive jazz to rock. He spent five years as a recording engineer and arranger in his own studio, Kelsey's playground, before closing it to pursue his solo career.

After placing as a finalist in Guitar Player Magazine's last national competition, he switched from electric to acoustic guitar to take advantage of the broader variety of sounds, moods and nuances available from this instrument that could increase the dimensions of his music. Rhythm has always been the driving force behind his compositions. All those influences now pour out of each song or intrumental, and every listener finds something familiar, something facinating, something remarkable about Kelsey's unique interpertations. He offers up a tasty smorgasboard of sound, sometimes electronically enhanced using technology to find new expressions to take the listener to another level.

Advance discount tickets: $15.00
Day of Show: $18.00

World Premier

THE RED SKULLS
Directed by
Luke & Andy Campbell

Saturday, May 7
8:00 PM

In the city of Bronston, staying alive is a twenty-four hour job...A wild bunch of hooligan kids who call themselves the Red Skulls have been the dominant street gang in the city for years. But everything changes one night when Uri, the leader of the Skulls, sees his best friend hacked to pieces by a rival group. Uri decides to get out of Bronston before he shares his friend's same fate. The only problem is the rest of the gang doesn't plan on letting him out so easy. The new self-appointed leader, Lester, has set a trap to lure Uri back, but without Uri in charge, all is not well within the gang's ranks. A traitorous member has set a trap of his own for Lester and the rest of the Red Skulls are about to become the victims. Now, Uri is about to find out the only thing more dangerous than a backstabbing street gang... is a mutated, cannibalistic street gang!

The story of the RED SKULLS began like most Speed Freak flicks. The original concept was more of a campy comedy following 4 "loser" friends who get on the wrong side of a gang. Some how it mutated into a much more dramatic story of a former gang leader trying to leave town but save his best friend's little brother before he gets out.

The origin of the gang is based on the photographs of Karl Weinberger, taken in Europe from the mid 50's to the late 80's of a pack of bikers and nomadic gangs wearing skin-tight denim and metal accessories found in junkyards and roadsides. The script follows three main separate stories of early twenty-somethings in the gang Speed Freak Productions is an independent horror movie company based in Kent, Ohio. The company was founded in 1998 by Jared Bullis, Andy Campbell, Luke Campbell and Ezra Haidet. The four friends began experimenting with horror shorts and action comedies on an 8 mm camera.

starring: ROZA HAIDET - RYAN MAILLE - LAURA ROBBINS - ASHLEIGH HOLEMAN - JEN MEISSNER - LUKE CAMPBELL - ANDREW MERCER - NATE LANDERS - JOHN "ED" BISHOP - JAMES L. EDWARDS - and introducing CHUCK CIESLIK - special makeup by RICKYLEE LEONARD - SHAWN McKINNEY - executive producer - ASHLEIGH HOLEMAN - director of photography LUKE CAMPBELL - written by CORY MAIDENS - ANDY CAMPBELL - produced and directed by ANDY CAMPBELL and LUKE CAMPBELL

Speed Freak Productions' first video release was the gore-filled short film "Teenage Zombie House Massacre." It was self-distributed by 'Speed Freak' and is still available today. Since then, the company has advanced from "no-budget" to "low-budget." The Campbell brothers (Luke and Andy) are now in charge of most of the business but there are over a dozen others who are part of the 'Speed Freak' family.

Advance tickets: $6.00
Day of Show: $6.00

RICHARD THOMPSON

Sunday, May 8
8:00 PM

Richard Thompson is almost more a force of nature than a man. To use the word "accomplished" to describe him would be too obvious. And yet, many younger musicians haven't heard of him at all. Nor have they heard of Fairport Convention, the groundbreaking British folk-rock band that Thompson was a member of in the late 1960s. Fairport Convention played traditional British folk songs as rock numbers, thereby nurturing the creation of contemporary folk rock and its various offshoots. (Perhaps younger musicians should look at their parents' record collections more often.)

Richard Thompson is considered a distinctly British songwriter. It is therefore ironic that he now lives in Los Angeles, the most American of cities. Richard Thompson is a god, or at least a minor deity, to many music fans—particularly those with a bent toward roots music.

His name is spoken in hushed tones—tones that say "can do no wrong," and "perfect," and "master." Rock critics name him, at least in private conversations, their favorite living songwriter, or guitar player, or musician.

Richard Thompson's songs have been covered by the likes of Los Lobos, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M. and Dinosaur Jr., to name a few.

Thompson likes pop music—hardly the expected fodder of a notable roots rocker. "[In pop music] there's less opportunity to be pretentious," he said via e-mail. Then he noted, "But the last 20-odd-years have been fairly uncreative, lots of recycling of previous forms, lots of mediocre dance music...at least half of what my 13-year-old and his friends listen to comes from the '60s."

Richard is taking that love of pop music to the stage in a big way with his current touring show, 1000 Years of Popular Music. Thompson reveals his leanings toward musical interpretation by rearranging and performing songs as historically diverse as the mid-13th-century ballad "Sumer Is Icumen In" (perhaps a monkish pop hit in its day) and Prince's "Kiss." That actually makes it 800 years of music, but who's counting?

A guitar player! Not only that, but some music fans believe he is the guitar player. This assessment is based on the rather lengthy guitar solos and improvisations Thompson pulls out of his bag of musical tricks during live performances.

Day of Show: $25.00
