We are looking for actors for the following
roles:  2 men and 1 woman - ages 20 - 45, for the production
of:

    A BICYCLE COUNTRY    by  Nilo Cruz

characters: Julio, Ines, and Pepe

All persons including those of diverse ethnic /racial backgrounds 
are encouraged to audition.  Mapleleaf always supports non traditional
casting.  Latino / Latina actors / actresses are especially 
encouraged.    This production has a $200 stipend! 
	  
A Bicycle Country, expressed in sections named for the elements of
life (earth, water, fire, and air), is a moving portrait of three 
Cubans who set out to build a most perilous dream.  Freedom,
hope, oppression and survival are explored during their harrowing
voyage across the Caribbean.

"The words of Nilo Cruz waft from a stage like a scented breeze. 
They sparkle and prickle and swirl, enveloping those who listen in
both a specific place and time- and in timeless passions that touch
us all..." (Christine Dolen, MIAMI HERALD).   Nilo Cruz won the 2003
Pultizer Prize for drama.  This production is an Ohio premier. 


Planned Performance dates: Fridays and Saturdays, July 9 - 24 
To be directed by Steve Ritchey.

   The Mapleleaf Theater is a non-profit, semi-professional theater
   based during the summer at Harpersfield Vineyard near Madison OH.
   The performances are in an intimate cafe style setting,
   35 miles east of Cleveland.
   It's the only theater at a working vineyard in the United States.
   In its 23rd season, the theater specializes in off-beat,
   unusual, and new works by American playwrights.
