CHARENTON THEATER COMPANY ANNOUNCES 2005 SEASON

Charenton Theater Company, Cleveland's premiere small theater, is proud
to announce their 2005 production season. Continuing to expand upon
their mission of accessibility, the 2005 season will consist of three
free touring productions.

The 2005 season opens with The Inside/Out Tour, an evening of two
lighthearted gender specific one acts. "If Men Played Cards as Women Do"
by George S. Kaufman, directed by Artistic Director Jacqi Loewy, is a
brilliant satire where a group of men at a bridge table speak, think and
behave in the manner in which women are supposed to conduct their game.
"Overtones" by Alice Gerstenberg, directed by Producing Director Mindy
Childress, presents two women as they appear to each other and their
passionate, volatile inner selves.

The Inside/Out Tour opens June 10th at The Market Avenue Wine Bar in
Ohio City and will tour to three locations through June 25th.
Performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm
and are free and open to the public.

Charenton continues its summer tradition of accessible, free
outdoor theater with The Urban Tour presentation of Clifford Odets
classic "Waiting for Lefty," directed by Bill Hoffman. One of the most
celebrated and significant plays of the modern American theater, "Waiting
for Lefty" is comprised of a series of episodes that blend into a
powerful and stirring mosaic. Set in the Depression era, the play deals
with the exploitation and inspiration of the working classes.

The Urban Tour opens July 29th and will run through August 27th.
Specific tour locations will be announced in early summer. Performances
will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and are free
and open to the public, with donations encouraged. It is strongly
suggested that audiences bring blankets or lawn chairs as seating will
not be provided.

Charenton will close its 2005 season with The Fall Tour presentation of
Peter Nichols’ "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg," directed by Sarah May and
reuniting award-winning "Six Degrees of Separation" actors Jacqi Loewy and
Jeffrey Grover. This immensely moving, profound play about love and
marriage centers around a family's struggle to cope with and raise their
only child, a severely handicapped young girl with whom they cannot
communicate. It is a scorching, unruly dramatization of the effect of
tragedy on a marriage and it breached several taboos in the late 60's.

Specific dates and tour locations will be announced in late summer.

Best known for touring productions to new and innovative spaces
including parks, bars and cemeteries, few companies can boast
Charenton's success. Charenton has achieved goals that until recently
seemed unattainable to any small arts organization. Over the past five
years, Charenton productions have consistently won the praise and
recognition of the arts community with awards for Best Production of the
Year, Best Actor of the Year and the Northern Ohio Live Award of
Achievement in Theatre. Charenton will build upon those successes with the
2005 season.
