Loses Dedicated Volunteer




(May 9, 2005, Akron, Ohio.For Immediate Release) Vaughn G. Austin, 57, =
of Brunswick, passed away Feb. 25, 2005. He had designed lighting and =
sound for productions at Weathervane Community Playhouse since 1976 and =
occasionally served as stage manager.=20

This season, Vaughn was the sound designer for The Grapes of Wrath and =
had planned to join the cast of A Lesson Before Dying in Cincinnati for =
Ohio's 2005 AACT (American Association for Community Theatre) Fest. He =
served OCTA (Ohio Community Theatre Association) as Weathervane's =
representative and was a member of the state OCTA board. The Lesson cast =
dedicated its performance at the Festival to Vaughn.

Vaughn served as stage manager for Camping with Henry and Tom, which won =
a Chanticleer Award as the year's best production in 1999. He also won =
Chanticleer Awards for sound for The Bat in 1984, for Breakfast with Les =
and Bess in 1986 and for Steel Magnolias in 1990.

He had a chemical engineering degree from Penn State and was secretary =
of the Medina Corvette Club. "He was a wonderful man who was a very =
important backstage production volunteer for the Playhouse," said =
Elynmarie Kazle, executive director. He is survived by his brother, =
Robert Costantino and many loving nieces and nephews.

An open memorial service will be held Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m. at =
Weathervane Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron. A potluck supper =
follows at the Playhouse.
