CHILDREN'S BALLET THEATRE

OPEN AUDITION:  BALLET DANCERS

Dancers aged 10-18 are invited to audition for Children’s Ballet Theatre (CBT).   Artistic Director Christine Meneer has announced that an open audition for male and female dancers will be held on June 4th, 2005 at the CBT home studio located at the School of Dance, 265 N. Main Street, Munroe Falls, Ohio.  It is recommended that dancers have at least three years of ballet training.  Girls, 7th grade and older, will be asked to do pointe work.  All male company dancers receive full dance scholarships to include ballet, partnering, jazz and tap.  Please call 330-688-6065 for times and further information.  Private auditions are also  available.      

CBT is a non-profit, pre-professional ballet company founded in 1993 by current Artistic Director, Christine Meneer.  CBT is well known for its full-length classical story ballets.  CBT's repertory includes the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, presented annually and spring productions of Coppelia, Cinderella, and the premiere of Sleeping Beauty in May, 2006.  Productions are performed at the historic Akron Civic Theatre.  Over 16,000 people from northeast Ohio and beyond were entertained by CBT performances this 2004-2005 season.  

Ms. Meneer states that the 2005-2006 season will require an additional 5 female and 5 male advanced ballet dancers who are capable of lead roles to add to her current company roster of approximately 40 dancers.   Meneer choreographs for the dancer, hand tailoring every lead role for his or her special talents.  Much emphasis is placed on polishing technique, muscle strength and stage presence. Professional training is offered at all levels and may include all male classes, pas de deux, variations and choreography.  Company members also have the opportunity to partner, train and perform with professional dancers.
