CAIN PARK and the CLEVELAND ASSOCIATION OF
BLACK STORYTELLERS PRESENT
THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT
=B3SOUL STORIES=B2
featuring Allison L. Smith and La=B9Ron Williams

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH - Two dynamic storytellers will bring stories from th=
e
African-American tradition to Cain Park=B9s Alma Theater for =B3Soul Stories=B2 o=
n
Friday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. Co-presented by Cain Park and the Cleveland
Association of Black Storytellers, =B3Soul Stories=B2 will feature Allison L.
Smith, an innovative storyteller from Cleveland, Ohio, and La=B9Ron Williams,
an animated storyteller from Flint, Michigan. Each teller will use their
own special ideas and styles to tell stories that will delight, captivate,
warm hearts and excite the imagination.

Smith believes storytelling improves reading and writing skills, which help=
s
build self-esteem. She incorporates her artistic ability with comedy,
puppets, and games in her workshops and storytelling. A member of the
Cleveland and National Association of Black Storytellers and The National
Storytelling Association, Smith founded The Covered Bridge Tales Spinners
Guild and introduced the first TELLABRATION to Ashtabula County in 2003.

Williams incorporates singing, acting and visual art into his
highly-interactive storytelling. With his gifted voice he might create
thunder, or maybe the sound of water falling, and he delivers chilling
versions of traditional songs, creating rapport with any type of audience.
In 1995, he was awarded a county-wide arts award for his contribution to
local theater, and he has been recognized by the Ann Arbor African-American
community as one of its =B3Kwanzaa Flames.=B2 Williams has also served on the
Board of Directors of the National Association of Black Storytellers.
