NEW in Cleveland - One time only!

ACTION THEATER WORKSHOP

Beginning/Intermediate Physical Improvisation
for actors, dancers, teachers, street performers and anyone who likes to play!

Saturday, June 4th - 10:00AM-4:30PM
6205 Detroit Avenue (near Cleveland Public Theatre)

With HANK OBERMAYER
From the San Francisco Bay Area

ACTION THEATER is a performance and awareness training rooted in
physical improvisation. It explores the apparent contradiction
between awareness and spontaneity.

Using exercises to separate different aspects of experience, like
body, voice and narrative, we are able to pay attention to
relationship and imagination, and find ourselves in the moment. As we
learn to recognize our own impulses and take action we begin to
express the unknown and to encounter magic.

Action Theater can strengthen stage presence, help reawaken the sense
of play from childhood, and give voice to the subconscious.
Performances are often compared to the landscape of dreams.

HANK OBERMAYER is a theater artist with experience in physical
improvisation, spectacle theater, music and creative integration.
Hank has a deep passion to explore theater's potential for
transformation. For the last four years he has worked extensively
with Ruth Zaporah, the creator of Action Theater
(www.actiontheater.com). He also explores the work of Augusto Boal as
part of Bay Area Theatre of the Oppressed
(http://batocollective.org/), and is interested in projects that
investigate how theater arts can transform our relationships with one
another.
