The quiet, country-like atmosphere of Madison will be vitalized June 25 =
and 26 as many of Northeast Ohio's finest jazz musicians converge to =
fill the air with strains of jazz ranging from the eclectic to the =
electric at the First Annual Madison Jazz Festival.  Performances will =
run consecutively for two days as each jazz artist plays for 90-minute =
sessions back-to-back.  The festival, sponsored by Rabbit Run Community =
Arts Association, is noon until 8:00 p.m. both days, at the beautiful, =
lakeside Stanton Park in Madison.

Kicking off the festival on Saturday is the Madison Jazz Project, widely =
known for its big band sound.  Other featured musicians on Saturday =
include accomplished bassist and saxophonist Demetrius Steinmetz and his =
trio, acclaimed saxophonist Dave Sterner, and international jazz =
vocalist Debbie Gifford.  Gifford toured Italy in 2004 with the concert =
series Foundazione Adkins Chiti:  "Donne in Musica:  ControCanto Donne =
in Jazz", and was a 2005 nominee for the Free Times Music Awards =
Vocalist of the Year.

A great mix of Latin, and rhythm and blues provided by the Robert Ocasio =
Latin Jazz Project, winner of the 2005 Free Times Music Awards Best Jazz =
Band, will top of the day off Saturday.

Sunday's line up begins with the eclectic sound of Saborit Latin Soul =
providing a unique combination of Latino, jazz, pop, and rock and roll =
music.  Also performing Sunday are the Northcoast Jazz Collective, the =
Lakeland Civic Orchestra, and the Ed Michaels Trio.  Finishing the =
two-day event is the renowned swing band, the Dan Zola Orchestra.

"There's just something about listening to jazz on a warm summer's day =
that is hard to resist," says Brint Learned, executive director of =
Rabbit Run Community Arts Association.  "This is our first Jazz =
Festival, and it is our goal for this to become a tradition for the =
town, a sort of trademark event."

To add to the ambience Debonne Vineyards, and Georgio's Oven Fresh Pizza =
Company will provide food and wine.  Additional sponsors include The =
Cleveland Foundation, The Ohio Arts Council, Key Bank, and the Lake =
County Visitor's Bureau.
