[NEohioPAL]A Joker's Card, a short spoof film wns Best Entertainment with a 26th Telly Award

(June 24, 2005, Cleveland, Ohio) A Joker's Card, a parody/comedic short
film based on the DC Comics universe, is the first fan-film to receive a
Telly Award for Best Entertainment category under Film and Video
Productions.
 
Shot with several 3ccd digital cameras and a 16mm camera with under
$6000 budget and edited entirely with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, A Joker's
Card blends the campy style of the 60's superhero TV shows with the
sophisticated kung fu wire-stunts of the 90's. "With brisk directing,
hilarious comedy, and very clever spoofing, this is a very enjoyable
tongue in cheek parody of the Batman comics..." said said Felix Vasquez
Jr. at Cinema Crazed.
 
"It's an honor to receive this award," said Johnny Wu,
director/writer/producer for A Joker's Card. "The Telly is given by
professionals to recognize the talent of their peers, just like the
Oscars". Wu was recently featured in Arts & Entertainment for the
prestigious June issue of Cleveland Magazine.
 
Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring
outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as
well as the finest video and film productions. The Telly Awards annually
showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies,
production companies, television stations, cable operators, and
corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely
known and highly-respected national and international competition and
receives over 10,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many
foreign countries. Approximately 10% to 15% were awarded winners yearly.
 
For over a quarter century, the Telly statuette has been a symbol of
creative excellence.
Telly Winners are awarded a Silver Telly statuette, the highest honor.
The Tellys are designed by the same firm that makes the OscarR and
EmmyR, the Telly statuette weighs more than 4 1/2 pounds. 
 
For 2005, approximately 869 winners were selected; Johnny K. Wu and his
company Media Design Imaging is among the other 6 Cleveland firms
honored in various categories. Bill Johns of Cinevid Production also won
a Telly under the Social Issues Category for his latest short film Left
for Dead where Wu participated for that project as a minor crewmember.
