Hello,
I'm sending this email because some of you may be visual artists -- or know
visual artists --
Last August, my husband, Chad Blooming, was diagnosed with ALS -- Lou
Gehrig's disease -- a fatal illness with no treatment. A friend of his (Bob
Peterson) is organizing an art auction to raise money for ALS research. The auction
will be held in Cleveland in October -- a definite date hasn't been set yet.
Artists from all over the country are expected to contribute. The money
collected will all go directly to ALS research.
The auction is open to any and all types of art. So of course I was
wondering if any of you would be willing to contribute something to be auctioned? Or
perhaps you know someone who would contribute? (You will be able to use the
price of the piece as a deduction on your income tax -- as a charitable
contribution. And the amount would be whatever amount you set -- not the selling
price at the auction.)
If you are willing to contribute something -- and/or if you have any
questions -- please contact either Bob Peterson, or Melissa who is handling the
organization of the auction. I've listed their numbers below. If you know someone
who might be able to contribute -- please forward this note on to them.
Of course, we will really appreciate your help. ALS is considered an
"orphan" disease in that it just doesn't have much of a base for research funding.
Any amount is helpful -- and could be just that dollar that helps to find a
cure!!!
Also, please let Bob or Melissa know if you would like to attend the auction
