The Beck Center for the Arts Announces

Two Final Performances in the Beethoven Concert Series

Featuring Internationally Acclaimed Artist, Dr. Karl Lo

On July 27 and August 7, 2005

=20

Lakewood, Ohio - The two final performances of the Beethoven Concert
Series featuring renowned pianist, Dr. Karl Lo, will be held on
Wednesday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, August 7 at 4:00 p.m. in
the Music Building of the Beck Center for the Arts at 17801 Detroit
Avenue in Lakewood. These concerts are free and open to the public.=20

This extraordinary concert series began in late February, and at its
conclusion, Dr. Lo will have performed all of Beethoven's 32 piano
sonatas. Very few pianists in history have attempted such a feat of
this difficulty in this short time period. Each recital program
features four Beethoven sonatas. Dr. Lo will perform each recital from
memory and will complete the entire Beethoven sonata cycle in a period
of just seven months. "Audiences have marveled at his playing, memory,
technique and interpretative abilities," says Greg Upton, Piano Faculty
and Music Activities Director at the Beck Center. "Beethoven comes
alive." The Beck Center is one of two venues hosting this remarkable
series, the other being in Toronto, Ontario.=20

Prior to earning his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland
Institute of Music, Dr. Lo was a student of Mr. Paul Schenley and Dr.
Daniel Shapiro, and has also studied at the Oberlin College
Conservatory, Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and the Academy
for Performing Arts in Hong Kong.=20

As a student, he was named Liberace Scholar for three consecutive years,
and was the recipient of many institutional awards, such as the Dean's
Talent Award, William Kurzban Prize in Piano, Arthur Loesser Prize in
Piano, Louis Kaufman Prize in Chamber Music, and Piano Faculty Prize in
Accompanying. In addition, Dr. Lo has worked with several renowned
pianists and has been a frequent winner at various national and
international competitions.

In addition to appearances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the
CIM Orchestra, engagements have taken him in solo and collaborative
recitals across the United States, Canada, Venezuela, and Hong Kong.
Dr. Lo is a new member of the Beck Center Music Program piano faculty
and will be teaching individual piano lessons to students of the Beck
Center Music Conservatory, in addition to presenting select Master Class
sessions.

For more information regarding this concert series or other events at
the Beck Center for the Arts, call 216-521-2540 or online at
www.beckcenter.org <http://www.beckcenter.org/> . The Beck Center is
located just 10 minutes west of downtown Cleveland at 17801 Detroit
Avenue in Lakewood.
