Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is accepting applications for Directors =
for the following upcoming productions:

A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens' classic gets the full Broadway treatment in Alan =
Menken's-Lynn Ahrens'-Mike Okrent's adaptation of A Christmas Carol. =
This is the version that leaves New Yorkers and tourists alike gasping =
in wonder and merriment every year as the story unfolds on the stage at =
Madison Square Garden. In 2004, this version became the basis of a NBC =
television spectacular featuring Kelsey Grammer as Scrooge, surrounded =
by an array of stars including Jason Alexander, Jesse L. Martin, Jane =
Krakowski, Geraldine Chaplin, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ruthie Henshall. =
Alan Menken (Little Shop Of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime The =
Musical, Once On This Island) have collaborated on a score that is =
filled with beautiful melodies and emotional lyrics. Their song "A Place =
Called Home" has become a holiday standard.=20

While the Madison Square Garden staging contains spectacular special =
effects and scenic elements, A Christmas Carol can be equally effective =
on a more intimate scale. The book by Mike Okrent and Lynn Ahrens is =
character-driven, and all of the featured roles are developed to give =
performers many chances to shine. Of course, at the center of the piece =
is Ebenezer Scrooge himself, taken from the pages of Dickens' immortal =
tale and delivered full-blown in a role suitable for your local star.=20

There are many adaptations of A Christmas Carol out there, but only one =
Broadway version! Now this holiday treat can delight your audiences as =
it has annually in New York City for so many years.

Show Dates: November 18th-December 18th / Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm / =
Sundays at 2pm Nov 27th, Dec 4, 11, 18

King O' the Moon

Sequel to the Hit Comedy OVER THE TAVERN!=20

KING O' THE MOON's story picks up 10 years after the ending of OVER THE =
TAVERN, featuring the Polish-Catholic-Pazinski clan of Buffalo, New =
York. It's July 1969, and Apollo 11 is making its historic journey to =
the moon. A time of tumultuous change in our country's history, the =
summer also represents a Crossroads for each member of the Pazinski =
family. You need not have seen Over The Tavern to enjoy this show!=20

Show Dates: Jan 20th -Feb 11th / Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm

A Chorus Line

A CHORUS LINE is a stunning musical-verite about a chorus audition for a =
Broadway musical. It tells of the achingly poignant ambitions of =
professional Broadway gypsies to land a job in the show, and is a =
powerful metaphor for all human aspiration. Memorable musical numbers =
include I Can Do That, At the Ballet, Dance: Ten; Looks: Three, The =
Music and the Mirror, What I Did for Love, One (Singular Sensation) and =
I Hope I Get It. It is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and =
compellingly authentic drama. The show was instantly recognized as a =
classic.

Show Dates: July 21st-Aug19th / Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm Sundays at =
2pm / July 30, Aug 6, 13

About Chagrin Valley Little Theatre

Audiences today at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre enjoy a first- class =
professional theater, with high-tech lighting and sound systems, =
comfortable seating, and excellent acoustics. Before and after the show =
they meet and mingle in an elegant lobby and enjoy refreshments during =
intermission in the charming River Room.

The theater has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 1929. In =
that year, Chagrin Falls was a sleepy little town with little in the way =
of culture. Alfred Hill, owner of a short-lived newspaper in the Valley, =
ran an article in his paper suggesting that interested residents to meet =
and form a local group of players.

The idea caught on, and in November 1930 the Valley Players celebrated =
their inaugural season with a series of three one-act plays staged in =
the Federated Church gym. So successful was the first production that 50 =
more people joined the Players, and plans were laid for a second season.

The Players opened their second season on the upper floor of the Old =
Town Hall, which was to be their home until a fire destroyed the second =
story in 1943. For the next several years the Players used makeshift =
accommodations in schools and other buildings.

In the fall of 1948, following two fundraising drives, construction was =
begun on the present Little Theatre building on River Street. Architect =
Frank Draz, who also designed the Cleveland Play House and Karamu =
Theater, drew the final plans for the theater.

The new facility opened in November 1949 with the world premiere of =
How's Your Hooper, by Everett Rhodes Castle of Cleveland heights. Going =
to the theatre became the social thing to do in the Valley.

The theater thrived and rapidly expanded its offerings to include a =
youth theater group and a ballet school. For many years the theater =
actors and audiences were limited to Valley residents only. By the late =
1960s, as television and movies drew people away from live theater, the =
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre decided to open its doors to the wider =
community.

Now a true community theater, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is =
recognized throughout the region as a venue for high quality productions =
that showcase the talents of area actors and delight thousand of theater =
lovers each season.
