A FEW DO'S AND DON'TS OF
POSTING
TO NEOHIOPAL

DO
have a subject line with specific info including producing organization and
event. It is the one part of your message that the subscribers will for sure
see and they will decide whether to open your message or delete based on it.

include who, what, when, where and why.

DON'T
post the same message over and over and over (and over) again within a week.
Posting once a week is plenty. Subscribers don't want to be inundated. The
more messages the subscribers get, the more likely they will hit the delete
button quickly.

put any graphics or attachments on your message. If you need the subscribers
to see a graphic or attachment, set it up on a website with a link.

For more important information about posting, as well as ...
how to unsubscribe
switch from digest to one-at-a-time, or vice versa

TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony begin New Season -

Call for New Members

For further information, contact Rick Fortney at 440-933-7771.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony, under the direction of Rick Fortney, =
begin their 2005-2006 season this coming week. All musicians are =
encouraged to join.=20

The Chorale rehearses on Sunday evenings. Chamber Singers, an auditioned =
/ select ensemble, rehearses at 5:50 p.m. and the Chorale rehearses from =
7:15 - 9:00 p.m., starting August 14. A training choir rehearses on =
Tuesday evenings, 7:30 p.m., starting September 13th, studying basic =
music theory, vocal technique and sight-reading to help equip you as a =
musician and the ability to join the Chorale. The Symphony, under the =
direction of Jim Traxler, rehearses on Monday evenings, 7:30 - 9:00 =
p.m., starting August 15.=20

The Chorale performs a large amount of repertoire. This season they will =
be performing Rene Clausen's Memorial, Gabriel Faure's Requiem, Francis =
Poulenc's Gloria, and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem along =
with a number of pieces by Mack Wilberg, John Rutter and others. If you =
love to sing, want to continue to grow as a musician, sing major works, =
and want an opportunity to raise awareness through the arts within our =
community, then come and give TrueNorth a try!=20

The Symphony is open to new members as well. The growing repertoire of =
the Symphony includes original scores of the master composers of all =
periods, but limited to medium difficulty, so that anyone with more than =
three years of playing experience and reasonable proficiency can =
participate. You can become a member by informal audition, sitting in on =
a rehearsal, and talking with the director afterward. We limit the =
number of wind instruments for balance, but we have no limit on the =
number of string players.

In preparation for the September 11 concert, a special choir 'fest is =
scheduled for this weekend, all are invited. Friday evening, August =
12th, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.; Saturday morning, August 13th, 9:15 a.m. - 12 =
noon; and Sunday, August 14th, 7:15 - 9:00 p.m. The symphony will begin =
on Monday evening, August 15th, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. The September 11th =
concert will be at Avon Lake High School Auditorium and will be an =
opportunity for the community to come together in reflection of 9/11 in =
a concert of prayer. Memorial, written by Rene Clausen, will be featured =
along with four American Hymns arranged by Mack Wilberg and Agnus Dei by =
Samuel Barber. Memorial is a composition for mixed chorus, orchestra and =
baritone solo, based on subject material which reflects the horrific =
events of September 11, 2001, in New York City. Though presented as one =
continuous movement, the composition follows a program that comprises =
four sub-sections - "September Morning," "The Attack," "Prayers," and =
"Petitions." The first two sections reflect the actual chain of events =
leading to and including the attacks upon the World Trade Center towers. =
The music of destruction, however, is kept to a minimum in favor of =
musical emphasis upon a possible spiritual response to these events. =
Healing, cleansing and hope are the main themes of the work.

Both the Chorale and the Symphony rehearse in TrueNorth's new rehearsal =
hall at their Center, 33491 Lake Road, at the TrueNorth Plaza. For more =
information please call TrueNorth at 440-933-7771 or visit their =
web-site at www.TNCArts.org.=20

On Sunday, September 18, from 12 noon - 4 p.m. The Cleveland Play House
will host a FREE open house for the entire Cleveland community to celebrate
and kick off our 90th Anniversary Season. Taking place both inside and
outside our building at 8500 Euclid Avenue, the day will include food,
music, children's events, tours of the building, site-specific plays,
season previews and other fun events.

A detailed schedule will follow -- for now, please Save the Date!

For those who have been wondering about the annual NeOhioPal Picnic:

This year, in lieu of the picnic, Fred Sternfeld has graciously offered to
have The Cleveland Play House Open House take its place. We are very
thankful to Fred for his support of The Play House's anniversary
celebration and we hope everyone who enjoyed the picnic last year (or who
wanted to attend it this year) will come to our open house!

Thanks Fred!!
