Fall 2005 H.O.T. Workshops:

Performing Arts Education Programs in Residence

at Weathervane Playhouse and=20

the Grace Drake Center in Medina.

Weathervane Playhouse announces the H.O.T. (Hands on Theatre) Fall =
workshops and classes, taught by theatre professional's and educators, =
for children ages 4-18. Classes in performance, vocal music and dance, =
and technical theatre begin the week of September 17 and run through =
November 26, 2005. Classes meet Saturdays and some weekday mornings and =
afterschool sessions at Weathervane Playhouse and the Grace Drake =
Center. The Fall session is the first stage of the 2005 - 2006 Education =
program, with our wonderful Spring and Summer programs to follow. The =
students have a wide choice of theatre education classes to choose from, =
and the sessions will all be taught by working theatre professionals =
from Northeast Ohio. Classes have already begun to fill, so call today.

ACTING I: THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

(Grades K - 3)=20

A class for younger students who want to learn about theater. This class =
will work with cultural stories to create small plays about the world =
through the eyes of a child.=20

ACTING II: THE PLAY'S THE THING

(Grades 2, 3, & 4)=20

This class is designed for students who have had some formal training, =
as well as beginners. Young actors will learn how to develop acting =
skills and create original theater pieces.

Class Size: 6 - 12=20

Saturdays 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Tuition: $135

ACTING III: MOVEMENT

(Grades 4, 5, & 6)=20

This class is designed for the young actor who has already had a course =
in Acting II. Vocal expression and movement will be used to create solo =
or group performances based on themes of culture.

Class Size: 6 - 12=20

STAGE MAKEUP=20

(Grades 7,8, & 9)=20

This class is designed for the more advanced student. The class will =
focus on the use of stage makeup, the creation of masks for the stage =
and their use in the history of theater. (Fee includes student makeup =
kit)

ACTING IV: CLASSICAL THEATRE

(Grades 6, 7, & 8)

This class is designed for the more advanced student. Character analysis =
and scene work from Shakespeare's comedies will be the focus of this =
class. An excellent audition preparation class!=20

ACTING V: WORKSHOP=20

(Grades 9-12)=20

A challenging course focusing on interpreting and developing character =
through the use of varying acting techniques and styles. Course material =
will be taken from 20th Century plays.

MUSICAL THEATRE I

(Grades 1, 2, 3)=20

This class will focus on the skill and artistry of singing, dancing and =
acting. Musical Theatre is designed for a student who enjoys all these =
elements. The final presentation will be a small cabaret performance.

MUSICAL THEATRE II

(Grades 4, 5, 6 )=20

This class is for the student who has had some previous theatre or =
musical theatre training or experience. Course material will be drawn =

Weathervane Playhouse's Satellite Education Program:

Medina County

Weathervane Playhouse, in collaboration with the Medina County =
Performing Arts Foundation (MCPAF), is pleased to offer a yearlong, =
educational theatre program for the young people of Medina County. This =
exciting program features six challenging and professionally taught =
theatre classes for grades K-8. There will be 10-week Fall and Spring =
terms available, followed by several Summer Camp offerings beginning in =
June of 2006.

The classes meet on Saturday mornings in the Grace Drake Center on the =
Square, in Medina. All Weathervane /MCPAF classes will be staffed by =
working, theatre professionals from Medina and Northeast Ohio. The Fall =
session begins September 24, 2005. All classes have a minimum and =
maximum enrollment.
