the presentation.

Choreography by Sarah Morrison

Dancers: Heather Baur, Sarah Morrison, Erin Posanti, Maree ReMalia, Story
Rhinehart, Kalindi Stockton, & Erika Young

EEG technology provided by Dr. Tom Collura and Terri Collura of BrainMaster

Neurofeedback Clinician: Mershona Parshall

Surgeon from arthroscopic video: Dr. Thomas Anderson, Cleveland Clinic

Approximately 2:30pm & 8:30pm (presented during the dance/tech
presentations from 2-4pm & 8-10pm)
MorrisonDance & BrainMaster present “INSIDE,” a dance accompanied by
visual projections of the choreographer’s brainwaves, LIVE during the
performance. Additional images will include the abstract video
presentation of the interior of Morrison’s elbow joint, taken during an
arthroscopic proceeding led by Dr. Thomas Anderson of the Cleveland
Clinic. The live dance will be an adaptation of Morrison’s original
choreography “Molecular Bodies Within,” which will be projected on the
final screen in its original format, when Morrison was seven months
pregnant. This innovative event will allow the audience to view the
INSIDE of the choreographers mind and body.

Presented in the Cleveland Trust Rotunda, the setting evokes images of
historical medical presentations, where eager students and colleagues
would admire the delicate workings of new methods presented by top
surgeons and other doctors - but you don’t have to be in the medical field
to be amazed by this original marriage of dance and EEG technology!

4:00pm
See how it works! Dr. Collura will be giving a demonstration of
BrainMaster’s neurofeedback technology with choreographer, Sarah Morrison
performing as the brain.

ABOUT MORRISONDANCE
MorrisonDance was founded and is directed by Sarah Morrison, who is a
choreographer, performer, educator and behavioral researcher. From 1997
until 2002 the group was maintained on a grassroots level and presented
innovative and acclaimed presentations such as LEAPING INTO THE NET!, the
world’s first online simulcast of a modern dance concert, and ERIE SIRENS,
a site specific performance held at sunset on the Cleveland city shore of
Lake Erie with sand-sculptures created by Scott Radke. Since
incorporating as a Non-profit company in May 2002, MorrisonDance continues
to push the boundaries of dance by exploring unusual presentation and
rehearsal venues, cross-disciplinary approaches to creation and education,
and new creative marriages with other artistic media, science, nature, and
technology. Through this exploration, MorrisonDance has been able to
discover the power of dance as a language for communication and expression
in a wide array of settings, while continuing to cultivate the value of
more traditional dance presentations in conventional spaces.
MorrisonDance has performed extensively in the Cleveland area at venues
including Playhouse Square and Cleveland Public Theater, and has been
presented recently by DanceNow/NYC at the Joyce SoHo and City Center in
New York City. They have been supported by the Ohio Arts Council and
Neighborhood Connections, a program of the Cleveland Foundation, for their
summer program, THE CITY IS OUR PLAYGROUND, which presents dance in
unusual settings in Cleveland, Chicago, and New York. In a recent
presentation in New York, Jennifer Dunning of the New York Times called
MorrisonDance’s performance one of “two jewels” in a presentation
including works by eight national companies, and Wilma Salisbury, dance
critic of the Cleveland Plain Dealer describes Morrison as “one of
Northeast Ohio’s most intelligent choreographers.”

The mission of MorrisonDance is to inspire and cultivate public awareness
of the art of dance through performances and cross-disciplinary
collaborations. To provide, promote, and participate in educational and
outreach programs that increase the awareness of dance and that encourage
community cultural and artistic endeavors; to research and develop
integrated and cross-disciplinary teaching and presentation methods for
dance; and to create opportunities for artists and performers of various
media, augmenting the accessibility of dance as a performing art.
