Cleveland POPS Orchestra announces its Seventh Annual Scholarship
Competition for talented teens

Cleveland, Ohio - August 29, 2005:  Cleveland POPS Orchestra announces its
seventh annual competition for The Jean Petitt Memorial Music Scholarship.
This competition is designed to give gifted young performing artists the
opportunity to perform with Cleveland POPS and receive a $500 cash award to
be applied to continued studies.  This year's competition will be held on
Sunday, November 13, 2005 at The Cleveland Institute of Music, 11021 East
Boulevard in Cleveland's University Circle.  Entry is open to musicians,
vocalists and dancers. Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 and
reside in one of the following Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga,
Portage, Summit, Medina or Lorain. The winner of the competition will
perform as soloist with Cleveland POPS during one of their at Severance
Hall. Applications must be received by Friday, November 4, 2005.  The
competition rules and application form may be acquired by calling Cleveland
