Show Synopsis
Two traveling farm workers, George and his friend Lennie, with delusions =
of living off the "fat of the land," have just arrived at a ranch to =
work for enough money to buy their own place. George, a responsible, =
intelligent man, befriends Lennie, and looks out for him as if he were a =
brother. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a =
dangerously powerful man. It's Lennie's obsession with soft and cuddly =
things that has made George cautious about who the gentle giant, with =
his brute strength, associates with, as it has gotten them into trouble =
in the past. George's loyal friendship and his promise to allow Lennie =
to "tend to the rabbits" on their future land keep Lennie calm amidst =
dangerous distractions; however, the belligerent boss's son, Curley, and =
Curley's flirtatious wife, threaten to undo the pair's vivid dreams. An =
intimate portrait of two men facing a world marked by petty tyranny, =
misunderstanding, jealousy, and callousness, Of Mice and Men explores =
questions of strength, weakness, usefulness, reality and utopia in =
Depression-Era California.
