The story revolves around two antagonistic brothers, Ray and Earl, are brought together after their father, Henry Moss, is found dead in his seedy New Mexico home. Henry was a harassing, arrogant drunk, and his sons have inherited his worst qualities. Ray is determined to uncover the mysterious circumstances of Henry's death. In three acts, the story of the father's last days unfolds in flashbacks.
"…sparks of theatrical magic light up the dim landscape of THE LATE HENRY MOSS…[Shepard's] singular gift has been for building mysteries out of the ordinary ingredients of American family life…" —NY Times.
"…theater event of the year…journey through classic Shepard country that is at once familiar and heartbreakingly new." —San Francisco Chronicle.
Sean Derry and Sean McConaha have established the Bang and the Clatter Theatre Company to produce innovative, challenging works, of exceptional quality and imagination with a particular emphasis on modern American plays. The aim is to create a provocative dialogue between theatre artists and the community by producing and promoting plays that explore the boundaries of theatrical style and illuminate the human experience.

Bang and the Clatter Theatre Company is committed to seeking out new audiences in Akron and Northeast Ohio for the theatre and to opening our doors to young audiences at reduced ticket prices. We believe that the communal experience of live performance is essential to the psyche of the any community and that the theater should be affordable to anyone who wants to attend. At the same time, the theater and its supporters must find a way to pay its artists livable wages and spread the word about the value their craft. We aim to be a place that supports artists rather than projects, where risk is encouraged and the possibility of failure is embraced rather than feared, as it is only under these circumstances that truly great work can emerge.
The Late Henry Moss is directed by Sean McConaha.
