Chagrin Valley Theatre
Announces
2005 State OCTA Performance Awards
by Eleanor Smith, Executive Director

The Ohio Community Theatre Association holds an Annual Conference every =
year during the Labor Day weekend.  Theatres from all over Ohio attend =
and 15 theatres present excerpts from their current season that were =
selected at their regional excerpt festival that was held in each of the =
5 regions during June and July.  The State Conference also provides =
workshops related to theatres which included this year the following; =
directing musicals, hands on make-up, set building, preparing an =
excerpt, responding to responders, business management, beginning and =
advanced fund raising, board development and tap dancing.

Games and social activities are also planned which last into the early =
morning hours.  The Annual Meeting is held on Saturday evening at which =
time, reports are given and the election of new Board Members is =
accomplished by the attending theatre delegates.  A banquet is held on =
Sunday night and scholarship awards, Hall of Fame awards and the =
Presidential Award are presented.  A dance followed the banquet with a =
DJ providing the music.

On Monday, a brunch was provided and awards for newsletters, set design, =
costume design and excerpt performances were presented.  As a special =
addition, certificates were presented to theatres that have been =
performing for 50 years or more and theatres that have been performing =
for 75 years or more.  Chagrin Valley Little Theatre received a =
certificate for performing 75 years or more.
