"I am an artist."  That is the theme of Playhouse Square's eighth-annual
Centerfest, a free event that encourages visitors to unleash their own
creative potential.  The September 17 celebration, held from noon to
5:00pm, features a variety of artistic pursuits for all ages! =20

This year's festive event features two FREE performances of Dan Zanes
and Friends at noon and 3pm in the Palace Theatre.  These performances
will be followed by a "meet and greet" and autograph signing with Dan
Zanes in the Palace Theatre Lobby. =20

Also a highlight of Centerfest, the sixth-annual "Rising Star" community
talent contest showcases vocal and dance acts.  Poets of all ages will
want to add their voice to Centerfest's poetry slam, and audiences of
all ages will be invited to enjoy Swing Dancing demonstrations on Star
Plaza and a variety of interactive technology activities throughout the
day. =20

Interact with artists and musicians at our Instrument Petting Zoo.

Experience the new Idea Center at Playhouse Square, the broadcast
headquarters of ideastream and home for Playhouse Square Center's arts
education programs.  There are activities in every area of the new
facility:

*    Jump on the sprung floor in our new Dance Studio!  From 2 - 4:30,
dancers from Inlet Dance Theatre will demonstrate some basic moves that
everyone can try.

*   See yourself on TV!  Take part in the "Green Screen Experience" -
read from a teleprompter in front of a variety of backdrops and create
your own personal news broadcast - in Studio 2, the street-front
television and radio studio

*   Be inspired!  Watch Jane Campbell, Dee Perry, Fred Griffith and
other Clevelanders in the "I am an artist" video in the Dance Studio.
In the black box theater Studio One, you'll experience what it means to
"ignite, invent and imagine" through a film specially created for the
opening of the Idea Center.

*   What's your great idea?  Record it on video or in writing in the
PB&J (yes, it stands for peanut butter and jelly!) area.

*   Unleash your inner artist!  Have your photo taken and then draw your
own self-portrait in the Arts Education Classrooms - your to take home
and show al of your friends!

*  The Idea Center is for everyone!  Find out about upcoming events and
classes that you can participate in at the information desk in the
Euclid Commons area on the main floor.
