Proof

By David Auburn

Emerald City Players in Dublin, Ohio announces a production of David Auburn’s Proof, winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play. The production opens at the Emerald City Theater (in the Dublin Village Shopping Center at 6799 Dublin Center Road), September 30 - October 15, for 10 performances. Show times are Thursday-Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm.

David Auburn’s Proof takes audiences on a journey through the minds of mathematicians as well as explores the depths of family relationships. On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father’s who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Catherine wonders how much of her father’s madness – or genius – she will inherit.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors at the Dublin Arts Center (7125 Riverside Dr.), the Dublin Chamber of Commerce (129 South High St.) or before each show at the Emerald City Theater box office. Visit www.emeraldcityplayers.com to order online. For group sales, please contact Kathy Sturm at (614)470-1525.
