THE PRODUCTION OPENS THE 2005-2006 STUDENT MATINEE SERIES

 AT THE STOCKER ARTS CENTER

Theatreworks USA will premiere their production of "WALK TWO MOONS" as the
opening production of the 2005-2006 Student Matinee Series at the Stocker
Arts Center of Lorain County Community College. The show will be performed
two times on Monday, October 3, 2005, at 9:45a.m. and 11:45a.m. Tickets are
on sale at the Center's Box Office, which is open from 12:00 noon to 6:00
p.m. Mondays through Fridays and before show time for the Student Matinees.
The Box Office can be reached by calling (800) 995-5222 ext. 4040. The
Stocker Arts Center's Student Matinee series is presented during school
hours so that the shows can be enjoyed as field trip experiences. All shows
are also open to members of the general public who enjoy daytime theatre
performances.

"WALK TWO MOONS" has been adapted for Theatreworks USA by Julia Jordan from
the 1994 Newbery Medal-winning novel of the same name by Sharon Creech. The
production is recommended for fifth through eighth graders. It is the story
of Salamanca Tree Hiddle, a thirteen-year-old American Indian girl. When
her mother suddenly and mysteriously flees, Sal vows to continue the
tradition of spending her mother's birthday with her. Drawing strength from
her Native American ancestry, Sal goes on a quest with her eccentric
grandparents to find her missing mother by tracing her cross-country trek
via the postcards she sent. Sal and her grandparents drive from Euclid,
Ohio, through the Badlands and the Black Hills, en route to their ultimate
destination: the twisting and winding mountains of Lewiston, Idaho, in Sal's
race against the calendar to reunite with her mother in time for her
birthday. As they travel, Sal tells Gram and Gramps about her know-it-all
best friend Phoebe Winterbottom and Phoebe's powerful imagination,
disappearing mother and a potential lunatic! Sal's tales of life back home,
both hilarious and touching, create a journey within a journey as she and
Phoebe discover that things aren't always what they seem. The peaks and
valleys of Phoebe's story form parallels with Salamanca's emotional journey,
and both girls learn about the things that really matter: what defines a
family the necessity of change, and the need, in order to really know
another person, to walk two moons in their moccasins.

Tickets for this wonderful children's book brought to life on the stage are
$4.00 each per show. The show times are 9:45a.m. and 11:45a.m. on Monday,
October 3, 2005. Reservations for schools and/or ticket purchases are
accepted at the Box Office by calling (800) 995-5222 ext. 4040. The Stocker
Arts Center is on the campus of Lorain County Community College, 1005 North
Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. For further information on this and other
