is seeking a Musical Director for its production of

"Crowns"
A gospel musical based on the best-selling book "Crowns: Portraits of =
Black Women in Church Hats"
Adapted by Regina Taylor form the book by Michael Cunningham and Craig =
Marberry

Director for the production is Dale Shields*
Production Dates: January 11 - February 5, 2006
Target Audition Dates: November 5, 6, & 7

The musical is scored for organ, drums and piano.
The musical director will play 1 keyboard instrument.
Much of the score is written (through composed).
Several pieces are chart and will require some improvisation.

Play description: "Crowns" celebrates a singularly colorful slice of =
life! Bedecked in beautiful hats, a "Circle of hat queens" presents a =
multigenerational portrait of fashion, faith and African-American =
heritage.

*Director: Dale Ricardo Shields holds a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from Ohio =
University and is the director of "Top Dog/Under Dog" currently playing =
at the Beck Center where he teaches in the Conservatory Program. Most =
recently, he performed with the Saint Paul Civic Symphony at The Saint =
Paul Landmark Center (MN) as the Narrator for Aaron Copland's "A Lincoln =
Portrait."
