Evie, I can think of two excellent sources:
1) I am singing High Holiday services at Temple Emanu El, on Green Road in=20
Lyndhurst,and they are accepting donations AND will have a truck they are=20
packing up on Oct 10. Included in their list of requested donations are=20
non-perishable food items (cases or cartons), linens, school supplies, and f=
ull-size=20
personal hygiene products. For a full list, and more info, their office numb=
er is=20
216-381-6600 or info at teecleve.org. Also, volunteers are needed on Oct 10 t=
o=20
pack boxes and load the truck.

2) Good old Michael Moore has started an amazing effort to help locally in=20
the gulf states. Here's info from his website,Welcome to MichaelMoore.com!,=20
about the SOS Coalition and how to donate or help. Here is where you can s=
end=20
stuff:

Supplies can be sent to:
Saving Our Selves (S.O.S.)
2810 Mill Street
Mobile, AL 36607

(251) 377-9691
Here is their wish-list:

Hurricane Relief Effort Continues in Affected Areas

 The Hurricane Katrina relief effort, supported by your donations of goods=20
and cash began over a month ago in the greater New Orleans and Gulf Coast ar=
ea.=20
Together with your support, we hope to continue to meet the needs of hurrica=
ne=20
survivors.
 Thanks to the support and generosity that rolled in, the effort was more=20
far-reaching and long-lasting than anyone ever expected.

The S.O.S. Coalition (Saving Our Selves After Katrina) has served over=20
thirty-two communities that were devastated along the Gulf Coast. They also=20=
provide=20
support and assistance through over fifteen churches in the region. The=20
churches serve as community service sites, especially in the African-America=
n=20
communities. In addition to their amazing Gulf Coast operation, S.O.S. conti=
nues to=20
offer relocation services, operate long term shelters in Alabama, provide=20
medical services and advocate for FEMA benefits. This community-based organi=
zation=20
provides information, services, and resources to other grassroots relief=20
organizations both regionally and nationally. Their distribution warehouse=20
established with the help of donations from people like you, located in Mobi=
le,=20
Alabama is distributing needed food, water, and essential survival supplies.=
 S.O.S.=20

y=20
can continue to expand their services. They are also looking for capable=20
volunteers. They are a non-profit corporation and your donations will be tax=
=20
deductible.
