On Saturday, November 5 at 8 p.m. the legendary Joe Sample and Kim
Waters take the stage at the Akron Civic Theatre for an evening of
soothing, soulful jazz.=20

For more than four decades, acclaimed keyboardist and composer Joe
Sample has been an integral, innovative and best-selling part of jazz
history. A founding member of the influential jazz funk combo, The
Crusaders (originally the Jazz Crusaders) and a pioneer of contemporary
jazz piano, Sample uses jazz and soul music to create personal
interpretations of music including classics by esteemed composers Jelly
Roll Morton, Duke Ellington and others. His spirited sounds can be heard
in his first solo piano recording from 2004 entitled Soul Shadows, as
well as 1999's The Song Lives and 2002's The Pecan Tree.=20

For more than 15 years, saxophonist Kim Waters has been fusing the
sounds of jazz, R&B, funk and pop into a chart-topping combination on
both the adult urban and smooth jazz radio scenes. His talents have made
him one of the top five best-selling instrumentalists in contemporary
jazz, with a half million in sales and 10 No. 1 hits. His 2004 CD, In
the Name of Love held a spot in the top 20 of Billboard Contemporary
Jazz Charts for six months. His latest album, All for Love, continues to
appeal to a broad audience with its sultry ballads, funky dance-inspired
tracks and soulful R&B hits.=20
