The Hawken Players Society presents Lanford Wilson's Book of Days October =
28, 29 at 7:30 p.m. and at 4 p.m. Sunday October 30th in the Kennedy =
Auditoium at the Hawken Upper School at the corner of Mayfield and County =
Line Road on the Gates Mills/Chesterland border. Tickets are $5 and $12 =
and are available at the door. For more information, call 440 423-2119. =
When murder roars through the small town of Dublin, Missouri, Ruth Hoch =
begins her own quest to find truth and honesty amid small-town jealousies, =
religion, greed and lies. Book of Days is a beautiful and complex murder =
mystery set in a small town in Missouri. When the owner of a cheese =
factory, the town's main industry, turns up dead during a tornado, Ruth =
Hoch suspects foul play. Ruth, who works at the factory, has just been =
cast as Joan of Arc in a community theater production of Saint Joan. As =
the play unfolds, Ruth portrayal of Joan and her real life collide and =
overlap as both she and Joan search for the truth and are largely ignored =
by the community. Greed, corruption, deception, politics and organized =
religion all play roles in both hiding the truth and revealing the =
inevitable conclusion. Due to the subject matter of the show, the maturity =
of both the characters and the story, this play will appeal to older =
students and adults, but younger children will not be able to follow the =
story. It is the director's recommendation that younger children not =
attend, as this will not be entertaining fare for them. Seniors Chelsea =
Davison, Kat Kachurek, Brendan Tucker, Rob Rodems, Trisha Himmelein and =
Eric Barbato, juniors Harrison Adams and J. McNamara, sophomores Amy =
Murdoch, Chris Gellert and Sam Skove and freshman Hannah Stofan form the =
acting company for Book of Days. The show is directed by Pat McCabe with =
technical direction by Dave Glowacki. =20
