The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater is pleased to announce its 2006 season. Stage productions for 2006 will include: "Sorry, Wrong Number"; "The Hitch-Hiker"; "The Nerd"; and "The Odd Couple – Female Version". All shows and auditions will be held at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building, 9543 Broadview Road.

In addition to these shows, the Spotlights will also offer an array of events for youth and adults in 2006. The Spotlights Youth programs will include the theater’s third-annual Youth Theater musical and a Summer Theater Camp. The Spotlights will finish the 2006 season with its ninth-annual Enchanted Hollow – a family-friendly alternative during the Halloween season – and a holiday choral concert featuring the Broadview Heights Spotlights Costumed Carolers.

The Spotlights will feature two of Lucille Fletcher’s one-act plays, "The Hitch-Hiker" and "Sorry, Wrong Number," at its annual Coffee House production. Audiences will have the opportunity to indulge in fanciful coffees and decadent desserts between shows. "The Hitch-Hiker" is a ghost thriller that tells the tale of a cross-country motorist who encounters a strange and inexplicable hitch-hiker. His efforts to explain, then avoid, and finally destroy the constantly appearing figure along the highway carry him through several episodes until the adventure culminates in a terrifying climax. "Sorry, Wrong Number" is a mystery thriller that tells of a neurotic invalid whose only contact with the outside world is her phone. One night, because of a crossed wire, she hears plans for a murder and frantically tries to enlist help through the only means at her disposal. Her frustration and terror grow as her efforts fall short of saving the victim from demise. Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, March 3-18, at 8:00 PM. A matinee performance is slated for Sunday, March 12 at 3:00 PM. Auditions: January 2-3, 7:00 PM.

"The Nerd" is a comedy by Larry Shue. The show tells the story of an aspiring young architect, Willum, who owes a debt to Rick, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded while serving in the military. Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly – but his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd," a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence, and less tact. As Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leads to one uproarious incident after another. Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, May 5-23 at 8:00 PM, with a matinee show on Sunday, May 14 at 3:00 PM. Auditions: March 6-7, 7:00 PM.
Neil Simon’s "Odd Couple – Female Version" is a comedy that begins with a group of women assembled at the apartment of a divorcee for a game of Trivial Pursuit. If the mess in the apartment is any indication, it’s no wonder she’s single. Late to arrive is another gal who is meticulous and tense – and, they learn, she has just been separated from her husband. As life would have it, the slob bachelorette and the meticulous gal decide to bunk together with hilarious results. The patterns of their own disastrous marriages begin to reappear in this arrangement, and so this too must end. Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, September 8-23, at 8:00 PM. A matinee performance is scheduled for Sunday, September 17 at 3:00 PM. Auditions: June 26-27, 7:00 PM.
