of André Gide’s "Pastoral Symphony," with three performances, offered free

Saturday, November 5th at 8:00 P.M.
Sunday, November 6th at 2:00 P.M.

Performances will be held at Notre Dame College, Great Room, located on the
3rd floor of the Administration Building, 4545 College Road near Green Road
and Cedar Road. Donations will also be accepted for disaster relief for
arts organizations located in the gulf states region.

The Pastoral Symphony, written by Bodwin’s Peter Manos, was previously
presented as a workshop production at the Lamb's Theatre in New York and was
awarded a Pilgrim Excellence in the Arts grant. This reading represents it’s
local premiere.

The Gide story, on which it is based, was written in 1919. Awarding André
Gide (1869-1951), the Nobel Prize for literature in 1947, the Academy noted
“from the beginning of his career he put himself in the first rank of the
sowers of spiritual anxiety…Gide has been a man of contrasts … an
uninterrupted dialogue in which faith constantly struggles against doubt,
asceticism against the love of life, discipline against the need for
freedom.”

The cast features Magdalyn Donnelly, Tom Cullinan, Tim Keo, Sandra Manos*
and Peter Manos.*
