The Garfield Heights High School Drama Department presents "Life at the Gran=
d" On Thursday and Friday November 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th at 7:00 p.m. in=
 the studio theatre of the High School.
Based on the 1932 Academy Award winning movie Grand Hotel . The play, set at=
 Berlin's ritzy, opulent art-deco Grand Hotel, tells the multiple-narrative=20=
story of the criss-crossing of the lives of five guests, whose fates intertw=
ine for a two-day period at the hotel:
There is an aging, suicidal, isolated, fragile, and lonely-for-love Russian=20=
ballerina named Grusinskaya, a noble, elegant, dashing Baron Felix von Gaige=
rn in reality, financially broke and a gentleman jewel thief, who falls in l=
ove with her. An ambitious, young, sparkingly beautiful, on-the-make stenogr=
apher Flaemmchen who wants to be a movie star and live the good life. The te=
rminally-ill bookkeeper and factory clerk Otto Kringelein determined to see=20=
how the rich people live in luxury before his death. General Director Preysi=
ng a  ruthless, disagreeable, cold-hearted, industrial magnate and businessm=
an, and the physician Dr. Otternschlag who observes the true nature of the h=
otel.=20
