Greetings Everyone,
It?s Ife (ee-fay/Gail Young) again. I have already sent you all notice of my literacy and empowerment storytelling program but I want to inform you that I also have several other storytelling programs including those for Black History month and Kwanzaa. (Anyone doing a Kwanzaa Presentation? Get in touch with me.)

After spending three years in New York, I recently returned to Cleveland to care for my ill brother. He passed away but I am still in Cleveland. I am employed but my art is pulling on me in a very big way. I will be leaving my place of employment at the end of the year to freelance once again so I can be the artist I would like to be.

I have authored at least 40 plays (full lengths and one acts) including one person plays. One of my favorite is a one-woman, one-act play about Maggie Lena Walker, the African American Banker and Entrepreneur. This play is excellent for Womens events.

My works have been heralded as well written, unique and thought provoking. They are of comedy, drama, history, drama with music, satire, surrealism, edutainment and more. I write for adults, children, teens, women, social and health themes, etc. I have also written two screen plays.

My works are mostly of the African American experience but I can and do write about nearly everything. Several of my plays were presented in Cleveland before I moved to New York. I also had three plays presented in New York at Harlem Theater/Frank Silveras-Larry Neale Series. My career as a writer was on the upswing there, until my brothers illness forced me to return to Cleveland.

I am a self-taught writer; however, I studied playwriting extensively at Cleveland State University, (Plays in Seminar), earning at B.A. in Dramatic Arts. I also studied with Frank Silvera Writers Workshop in New York. The National Black Theater Festival selected two of my plays out of thousands of submittals for their New Plays Series. I am currently working with a producer for a cable access station. We will be presenting a totally unique kind of sitcom, staged and filmed right here in Cleveland.

Although New York has my heart, Cleveland has my family. So I plan to be in this city most of my time. Ultimately, I am aiming for a successful career as a screenwriter and playwright, having my plays produced at reputable theaters in Cleveland/(Greater Cleveland/Ohio) and again in New York. All theater persons who are interested can write me at ileifewriter at netscape.net. Hopefully, something good can emerge.

Thank you, Ife
