Mr. Kappes,

I read an e-mail forwarded to me by a fellow artist which absolutely shocks 
me!

If I interpret your response correctly, you (PD) are no longer going to list 
theatrical audition notices of any kind, in any format, (except on the 
Internet) in any printed material?

Who in the world did you people talk to when you made that decision?  
Certainly not to the acting community here in Cleveland.  Do you have any idea how 
many actors and/or theater people there are in the greater Cleveland are who 
rely on or are at least interested in theater?  Since we are only a one newspaper 
town I find it quite astounding that someone on your staff Tony Brown, 
Carolyn Jack, Michael Heaton, whomever, wasn't able to ague successfully that the 
inclusion on a weekly basis of local theater audition notices is extremely 
important to this really vibrant and thriving theatrical community.  

I am a professional actor by career choice and have been making my living as 
such both here and in New York for over 25 years.  I personally do not "need " 
the weekly audition notice in the paper to keep me informed of jobs that I am 
eligible for and interested in, however...I am also an acting teacher as are 
many of my professional colleagues and one of the things I tell my students 
constantly is to check the paper weekly for listings on what is playing in the 
theatrical community and also check the audition notices to see what's coming 
up and what they should consider auditioning for.  

I write this letter to inform you that the audition notices as published lo 
these many years by your paper are valuable and necessary and I urge you to 
reconsider and PUT THEM BACK IN!
