The Fairmount Youth Orchestra (FYO)
SCHOOL OF MUSIC
Katharine Cinelli, Interim Director
Tuition For the Winter Session $110 - plus a $15.00 concert shirt fee.

The Fairmount Center begins its 2006 YOUTH ORCHESTRA PROGRAM directed by
Katharine Cinelli* beginning January 7, 2006.

Does your child play an instrument - yearn to play in an orchestra with
friends and have a great time doing it? The 2006 YOUTH ORCHESTRA is an
extension of The Fairmount Center's 35 year music program. Youth Orchestra
members will have chances to perform in different settings and to increase
their interaction with other musicians and instructors. If you would like
to audition for the FYO or have any questions, please contact The Fairmount
Center at 440-387-3388 or email suzukifairmount at yahoo.com to arrange for an
interview and to play for the conductor. To learn more about the program,
visit www.fairmountcenter.org/music.htm

Beginning in the January 7, students will rehearse every Saturday afternoon
in preparation for about 3 concerts per 12 week session. Concerts will be
held at The Mayfield Village Performing Arts Center, the Fairmount Center
and other local venues in both Cuyahoga and Geauga County.

In addition, students will receive sectional coaching from other teachers
throughout the session. Repertoire will include well-loved, familiar
orchestra literature and unique transcriptions of folk tunes from around the
world.

*	Katharine Cinelli is on the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of
Music Preparatory Division. She graduated from the University of Maryland
in 2004 with Bachelor of Music in viola performance, and a Bachelor of
Science in music education. While there, she took graduate-level classes in
Suzuki pedagogy with Ronda Cole. She is a Suzuki violin teacher registered
through book 8. In addition to Ronda Cole, Katharine studied with Kimberly
Meir-Sims, and John Kendall.

*	Ms. Cinelli conducted two orchestras through the DC Youth Orchestra
Program, adult violin instruction through Montgomery Community College in
Maryland, and orchestra coaching through Project STEP in Boston, MA.

*	She has performed at Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg, Austria, Oberlin
in Cassalmaggiore, Italy, the Brevard Music Center, the Heifetz
International Music Institute, and the Musicorda Festival. She has
performed in masterclasses for the St. Petersburg String Quartet, Yitzhak
Schotten, Daniel Avshalomov, Roberto Diaz, and Martha Katz. She has studied
privately with Daniel Foster, John Kendall, Michael Tree. During summers at
the above mentioned music festivals, she has studied with Karen Ritcher,
Roger Chase, Diemut Poppen, Susan DuBois, and Michelle LaCourse. She is
currently pursuing a master in music at the Cleveland Institute of Music,
where she is a student of Jeffrey Irvine.
