The Akron Premiere of "Will Work For Food"

=E2=80=9CWill Work for Food,=E2=80=9D a feature-length movie produced entir=
ely in Northeast=20
Ohio, will have its only Akron showings on Saturday, January 14 in the Stud=
ent Union Theater at The University of Akron. Showtimes: Saturday, January=
 14 =E2=80=93 3 p.m. & 8 p.m.
Written, directed and edited by Jay Johnson, and produced by Nick Koesters,=
 the movie debuted at the 29th Cleveland International Film Festival and ha=
s since shown at the New York International Independent Film and Video Fest=
ival and at the DV Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it won best feature =
in December 2005.

Cleveland=E2=80=99s urban landscape sets the stage for the story of Billy (=
David Lemoyne,) a homeless man who doesn=E2=80=99t take handouts. Despite b=
eing a skilled machinist, legal troubles, a poor job market and discriminat=
ion block the young black man from re-entering society. A =E2=80=9Cspecialt=
y foods and services=E2=80=9D freelancer named Kurt (Nick Koesters) offers =
Billy a cheeseburger to wash his car. Dangling increasingly risky jobs with=
 more nourishing payouts, Kurt continually withholds food from Billy=E2=80=
=99s vulnerable stomach while exposing him to hustling, corruption and mani=
pulation. A man who simply believed in working hard and earning a paycheck =
is forced to learn the true art of=20
survival.

=E2=80=9CWill Work for Food=E2=80=9D was shot on digital video with a cast =
of area theater veterans and a crew with extensive experience in both film =
and video. Johnson combined a cinematic approach with the budgetary freedo=
m of digital video. Costing far less than traditional film, up to three cam=
eras rolled per scene, resulting in a character-driven con story unpredicta=
ble in both style and plot. Thanks to extensive location scouting, cameras =
captured unique perspectives of Cleveland and its neighborhoods. Johnson g=
raduated from Akron Garfield High School and from Ohio University with a B.=
F.A. in film and art. As creative director at OSV Studios in North Olmstead=
, he won local awards as a commercial director and videographer.=20

Co-producer Koesters has performed with most every professional theatre in =
Clveland, has been a company member with Great Lakes Theater Company the pa=
st two years. And will next bee seen in =E2=80=9CMrs. Warren=E2=80=99s Pro=
fession=E2=80=9D at the Beck Center.=20

rvane Community Playhouse, =E2=80=9CThe Late Henry Moss=E2=80=9D with The B=
