  SNYNOPSIS:
The Aurora Community Theatre introduces the year 2006 with a dramatic comedy that will touch every emotion the audience brings to the theatre.

Written in 1978 and later made into a movie starring the late Jack Lemon, this play’s lead character, Scottie Templeton, former script writer and Broadway press agent is everyone’s friend but nobody’s hero. His life has been a smorgasbord of possibilities most of them blown. He is a divorced womanizer, who has managed to live 50 years without taking anything seriously including love, marriage, and fatherhood. Scottie considers life a continuous gag like when his line chirps; “Let’s all get together a year from now!” said to a bunch of strangers exiting the elevator to his press event.

Suddenly one day all laughs are interrupted by some grim news; funny man finds out he is dying of leukemia. When his former wife Maggie drops by his New York townhouse with son Jud, Scottie realizes it is time to make amends for the past ---namely 13 years of ignoring the boy. Scottie’s attempts fail and a bitter confrontation between them occurs. Everyone else seems to adore Scottie. His boss Lou, says; “He’s misused his talent, avoided responsibility all his life, loused up every chance he’s ever had, and squandered all his money---however---there has never been a time I didn’t look forward to seeing him.”

In the end all are reconciled and friends organize a giant “tribute” to this unique personality.
