The Zips Programming Network Presents
"A Raisin in the Sun"

(Akron, Ohio) January 21, 2006 - The Zips Programming Network primer
organization for campus events opens its second Black History Month performance on
February 3, 2006 of Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun."
A Raisin in the Sun tells the story of a family living and struggling on
Chicago's South Side in the 1950's. It is a fiercely moving portrait of people
whose hopes and dreams are constantly deferred. Set at the beginning of the
Civil Rights era, this production brought the everyday aspirations of African
Americans to the stage for the first time. We are pleased to be doing this
production to raise awareness of African American play writes and without the
help of Samuel French, Inc this would have not been possible.
The production will run twice, Friday February 3 at 7:00pm and Saturday
February 4 at 3:00pm in the University of Akron's Student Union Gardner Theatre
303 Carroll St Akron, OH 44325. Both performances are "FREE."
This production is sponsored by The Zips Programming Network in
collaboration with Samuel French Inc. For more information and tickets, call Timothy G.
Avant, Diversity Chair at (330) 972-7014.
