Charming, touching, funny and entertaining.
Come experience the magic of first love.
It's the perfect Valentine's Day date!

Brian Dowd (played by Brian McNally) has spent the last 17 years of his life
wrestling with an unrequited "something" for his best friend's sister, Beth
(played by Tricia Shumate), who happens to live next door. But each and every
time he's spoken with Beth Finnegan for more than 30 seconds, he's ended up
with his foot planted firmly in his mouth. Now, Brian's time is about to run
out. With recent news that Jerry Finnegan's sister is getting married, the
time has come for him to put up or shut up. What's he got to lose - except the
love of his life!
That is the premise of Workshop Player's upcoming production of Jerry
Finnegan's Sister by Jack Neary, directed by Jerry Coghlan and Wade Hubbard. This
two actor play covers the entire period from when Brian and Beth first met,
(he was seven she was six), to the present when he is 23 and she is 22.
Through a series of delightful scenes the audience will come to understand why
Brian has always had a problem talking to Beth. She either doesn't listen or
else she hears too much. If there is a need to sum the play up in a single
word, that word would be charming, charming and touching. OK, that's two
words, charming and touching and entertaining. Three, three words to sum it up,
charming, touching, and entertaining, and funny. OK, four words.
The author of the play, Jack Neary, has been in contact with veteran
director Wade Hubbard and has sent a revised script with many suggestions as to how
he feels the play should be performed. This wonderful assistance has added
several levels to the play. Come and be part of the Workshop theater
experience. You will be glad you did.
Production dates are February 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 at 8 p.m., with
Sunday matinees on February 12 and 19 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and may be
reserved by calling our box office at 440-988-5613. Discounts are available
for groups of 15 or more. Workshop Players Theatre-in-the-Round is located at
44820 Middle Ridge Road in Amherst. Check out our website at
