The Story=20
Two American women, a Park Avenue psychiatrist and an ambitious young
writer travel to Bosnia to help women refugees confront their memories
of war. Though the two have little in common beyond the methods they
use to distance themselves from their subjects, they emerge deeply
changed as they confront their own fears in the face of violence,
resiliency and war. Based on interviews conducted by Eve Ensler with
numerous women who survived the civil war in the former Yugoslavia,
Necessary Targets is a timely reminder of how America struggles to
define its relationship to the rest of the world. (Rated - Mature)

The reviews have been fantastic!! One audience member wrote us to say:

I wanted to let you know that my husband and I along with three other
couples (2 of which are from Bosnia) saw Necessary Targets over the
weekend. I have to tell you when the Director indicated that there was
no intermission and the play was 90 minutes long we all looked at each
other thinking "how are we going to get through this" because, you see,
we had dinner at Gavi's (which by the way was fantastic) and let's just
say we all shared a couple bottles of wine. As you may or may not know,
my husband and I are of Croatian descent (we are both first generation)
as are all the couples that were with us that night. Our families and
friends who live in Croatia and Bosnia told us about the war and how it
impacted those countries and the people. This play hit some of the
issues and stories we heard right on the head....from the singing and
dancing to the drinking slivovica to the depiction of the gruesome
stories--this play was so accurate and so well done I can not say
enough. At the end of the play when my friends and I looked at each
other, our jaws were on the floor and we were tremendously moved by the
play and could not believe that 90 minutes passed so quickly -- we all
felt like we were in the refugee camp with these women....and it put
life into perspective and reminded us how some are living it even still.
Again, GREAT JOB!!!! I have told many of my friends about this play and
so I hope that attendance is way up this weekend. =20
