Men's Project: Men In Motion
The female dancer has long been the icon symbolizing dance. CCDT celebrates 
the male dancer and highlights his athleticism, power and strength this season 
with an all male ensemble entitled, "Men's Project: Men in Motion". 
CCDT's Men's Project will present new works for the company by artistic 
director Michael Medcalf, Paloma McGregor, Chicago-based choreographer Kevin Iega 
Jeff  (Church of Nations) and Minneapolis based Shapiro and Smith (To Have and 
To Hold).  
Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre is dedicated to enhancing the quality of 
life of minorities and all people by teaching, promoting and celebrating 
diversity through performance, community outreach and dance-related experiences.  
Since its' founding in 1998 by professional dancer Michael Medcalf, a graduate 
of Cleveland School of the Arts, CCDT has quickly gained recognition in the 
region as "a first-rate company rooted in the traditions of black dance in 
America." (The Plain Dealer, February 2002). The company performs the work of 
executive/artistic director Michael Medcalf and other local and national 
choreographers which are instantly accessible through music and movement, uniquely 
evidence and illuminate issues of social, racial and sexual concern through human 
interaction and dynamics. Today, CCDT is a dance company-in-residence at the 
historic Karamu House, the nation's oldest African-American cultural 
institution.
