Hudson Players Announce 2006 =96 2007 season

Hudson, Ohio =96 The Hudson Players have announced their 2006 =96 2007 =
season.
The three productions were selected by the Hudson Players board, with =
input
from an independent play reading committee. They include two comedies =
and a
musical; "Inspecting Carol," "Chicago," and "Run for Your Wife."

"Inspecting Carol" is a fast-paced comedy set in a small, Midwestern
theater. The plot revolves around a rehearsal for a playhouse's annual
fundraising production of "A Christmas Carol," a show they have =
performed so
frequently that they allow only four-days for rehearsal. Unfortunately, =
it
also has a new cast member who needs a lot more rehearsal time, a
not-so-tiny Tiny Tim who has grown substantially since last year's
production, and plummeting finances. The group learns that a government
inspector from the National Endowment for the Arts is about to make a
surprise visit to assess the theater's eligibility for funding. After =
four
long days of counterproductive rehearsals, everything that can go wrong
does. Cast members are leaving town, actors are forgetting their lines
onstage and sound cues are appearing from nowhere...even the set
self-destructs. The antics continue as the actors rush around in an =
effort
to salvage their floundering production and impress the inspector =
despite it
all.=20

"Chicago," is the Tony-winning musical by Bob Fosse, Fred Ebb and John
Kandler.=A0 In the roaring twenties Chicago, married=A0Roxie Hart =
murders her
faithless lover and is caught red-handed. Roxie and another murderess on
death row, Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines =
throughout
their trials, hoping the publicity will catapult them to fame, freedom =
and
successful stage careers. "Chicago" features memorable songs such as =
"Mr.
Cellophane," "All That Jazz" and "Razzle Dazzle."=20

"Run for Your Wife" is a British comedy-farce based on the misadventures =
of
a taxi driver who has been getting away with having two wives in two
different areas of London. He has been very successful at this double
deception, due to his irregular working schedule and his obsession with
organization and his meticulous attention to detail.=A0 His well-oiled =
plan
threatens to come unglued when his schedule is thrown off due to an
unexpected incident which requires a trip to the hospital and an inquiry =
by
the local police. Complication is piled upon complication as character =
after
character becomes involved and our cabby works frantically to keep his
double life from exploding.

The upcoming season was announced through an improvisational version of
"Wheel of Fortune." The evening=92s emcee, Brian Diehl, opened the =
evening
with a magic trick to reveal the category, "comedy," and the game=92s =
host,
Gary Maher took over to work with audience members who had to correctly
guess the show names.=A0 Denise Bernstein played the role of =93Vanna =
White=94 to
much acclaim.

The Hudson Players=92 next performance will be "Deathtrap," May 5, 6, =
12, 13,
19 and 20. One of the biggest hits in the history of Broadway, =
Deathtrap is
a thriller in two acts. The basic premise: How far will someone go to =
have a
hit play? In "Deathtrap," there is a play of the same title that's sure =
to
be a big hit on Broadway - a sure thing. Almost every character in this
story would kill to be listed as the playwright! Discount group rates =
and
ticket packages for "Deathtrap" and for next year=92s season are =
available and
may be purchased by calling 330-655-8522.=A0 All shows are at the Barlow
Community Center=92s theater, 41 S. Oviatt Street in Hudson.=A0 Audition =
and
show dates for the new season will be announced shortly.
