  WESTERN RESERVE & GOODYEAR THEATRE MERGE

  Western Reserve Playhouse & RiverWalk/Phoenix Productions (formerly Goodyear Community Theatre)
  have merged!

  Western Reserve Playhouse is a non-profit organization that began as The Bath Community Players in 1956.
  In 1966 WRP purchased The Barn and began its transition from a small group of players to a widespread three county organization. Situated in the Bath-Richfield Township area the theatre has attracted audiences from Summit, Cuyahoga & Medina counties.

  The past several years the Barn has had many renovations including a new roof, siding and stage thanks to the generous support of many organizations and the donated time of many volunteers.

  Western Reserve Playhouse has produced many shows including Fantasticks, My Fair Lady, Music Man,
  Cabaret, Arsenic & Old Lace and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

  RiverWalk/Phoenix (formerly Goodyear Community Theatre) is a non-profit organization that was originally formed as an employee activity at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. It evolved into a community theatre and became known as Goodyear Community Theatre. GCT produced large scale musicals including such productions as The King & I, Annie, Mame, Gypsy, Peter Pan, Anything Goes and the holiday special Babes In Toyland.

  GCT’s last production in Goodyear Hall was Oklahoma! (1995). Since then the organization has been looking for a “home”. They were in hopes of being in the Falls Theatre (Cuyahoga Falls) but plans fell through. The last production of RiverWalk/Phoenix was Babes In Toyland (2004) at Springfield High School.

  The merger will serve the mutual needs of both groups. Western Reserve Playhouse was on the verge of closing due to a lack of board members and volunteers. RiverWalk/Phoenix had been looking for a decade for a new home.

  The combined organizations will be known as Western Reserve Playhouse. WRP is committed in providing a creative outlet and educational experience for talented area residents. Upholding the highest professional standards in all phases of production, the theatre provides valuable education and experience to those on stage, behind the scenes and in the audience. Our audiences are given the highest quality productions in community theatre and are assured of an entertaining evening.

  Western Reserve Playhouse’s 2006 Season celebrates its 50th Anniversary! This exciting season includes:
  “Cliffhanger” (June 2 – 24), a comedy/thriller that mingles suspense and humor with an ingenious plot;
  “Once Upon a Mattress” (July 21 – August 12), a musical that is carried on the wave of wonderful songs with an hilarious, raucous and rollicking spin on the familiar classic; and “Opal’s Husband” (Sept. 8 -30), an hilarious comedy that is the sequel to the ever popular Everybody Loves Opal. All performances will be at Western Reserve Playhouse, 3326 Everett Rd. (Everett & Revere Rd.)

  The Theatre is always in need of volunteers and anyone wishing to become a part of this exciting adventure contact the Box Office at 330-620-7314. We are in need of set construction, scenic painting, props, ushers, fundraising, ad sales, orchestra, sound & lighting techs, stage manager, costumers and box office.
