90.3 WCPN PRESENTS PRIMETIME PREMIERE OF "I HATE THIS" ONE-HOUR RADIO
DRAMA

Special presentation to be broadcast on 90.3 WCPN ideastream, March 20,
8pm=20

On Monday, March 20 at 8:00pm, 90.3 WCPN ideastream presents a special
broadcast of the one-hour radio drama "I Hate This".=20

Based on Northeast Ohio writer David Hansen's life, "I Hate This" tells
the story of the still birth of a child from the perspective of a
parent. With surprisingly humorous undertones for such a serious topic,
Hansen's tale jumps in time describing the 36 hours before learning
about a failed pregnancy, and the year that follows, detailing the
frustration, recrimination, guilt, sorrow and ultimate acceptance of the
loss.=20

In its original form, "I Hate This" was a one-man theater presentation,
with Hansen playing more than a dozen characters, including friends and
family members who cannot express their feelings; medical practitioners,
both compassionate and not; and an autobiographical character, learning
to cope with anger and helplessness in the midst of grief, eventually
fashioning a new way of looking at life.=20

Hansen collaborated with Dave DeOreo, producer of the ideastream program
Around Noon, ideastream sound engineer Al Dahlhausen, and a group of
talented Northeast Ohio actors to recast the multi-character play into a
unique radio drama.=20

In this special radio presentation, Hansen is joined by the voices of
Nina Domingue, Magdalyn Donnelly, Alison Garrigan, Sadie Grossman, Betsy
Hogg, Nick Koesters, Brian Pedaci, Dee Perry, Scott Plate, Dorothy
Silver, Reuben Silver, and Thomas Weaver.

"I Hate This" was enthusiastically received by WCPN listeners when
originally broadcast as a special presentation of the ideastream program
Around Noon in November 2005. The original one-man-play version of "I
Hate This" received positive reviews at both the 2004 New York and 2003
Minnesota Fringe Festivals. It continues to receive acclaim as a
featured performance at health and bereavement conferences.=20
