  Wizards of Acoustic Guitar
  Friday 10th @ 8PM
  Tickets are $15 adv/$18 door
Organized by Northeast Ohio's favorite guitarist, Brian Henke, this year's concert features Doug Smith and Andy McKee as well as Brian.
Doug Smith is a nationally recognized acoustic guitarist who weaves together folk, classical, jazz and contemporary forms into a unique, flowing fingerpicking style recalling the playing of Chet Atkins, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, and Alex de Grassi. Doug participation in Solid Air Music's Pink Guitar - Won a GRAMMY AWARD for Best Pop Instrumental Album!!!! (February 2005) Doug's music has been heard on radio and T.V. stations throughout the country, including The Discovery Channel, Martha Stewart Living, CNN, TNN, ESPN, and Encore. He also played guitar on the soundtracks for the recent movies "Moll Flanders" and "Twister". Doug serves on the board of the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music.

  Andy Mckee
First place: 2004 Kansas Fingerstyle Guitar Championships
First place: 2003 Kansas Miscellaneous Acoustic Instrument
Second place: 2004 Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Championships
Third place: 2001 National Fingerstyle Guitar Championships
Third place: 2005 Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Championships
Mckee currently plays the Andy Mckee signature guitar by the Ayers guitar company. It's an all handmade mini-jumbo steel string acoustic, with rosewood back and sides, and an excellent B-Band A6.2 preamp built in. It has maple binding throughout and a fretboard inlay featuring one red and one black Converse All-Star, just like he likes to wear! The Ayers company is larger in Japan and Germany right now, but they will soon make a presence in the U.S. Watch for them, they make great guitars!

When playing out, Mckeee uses a Fender Acoustisonic SFX for amplification. This amp sounds killer! It has a speaker on the lower half which is turned to the side 90 degrees. It gets 300 degrees of sound coming out of it. Like they say, "It feels like you are swimming in the sound of your guitar." Built in reverb, delay, and chorus round it out nicely.
Brian Henke- Guitarist
Brian composes and performs his music like a painter putting images on canvas, drawing his inspiration from the world around him. An avid hiker, he often brings his guitar along to create a spontaneous response to his outdoor settings. Mother Earth (Terra) as artist has given an immense living gallery from the humbling spectacle of her natural wonders to the simple, beauty of a treetop against a blue sky. Her majestic legacy and the magical feeling of awe and peace inspire the compositions of this award winning virtuosic fingerstyle guitarist.

His unique guitar style has been called everything from Folk to New Age to Neo-Classical to Pastoral or as Brian likes to call it “a big stewpot of everything stirred up, simmered and served to taste.” His music appeals to anyone who likes their music, lyrical, thought provoking and performed with virtuosity. Through it all is an undercurrent of spirituality and mysticism that Brian says is very much apart of the creative process.
A winner of several Northeast Ohio Music Awards, he has also been a finalist in the National Fingerstyle Contest in Winfield, Kansas and the National Guitarmageddon regional finals in Boston.

Darrell Scott with Diana Jones and Chittlin"
Saturday March 11 @ 8PM
  Tickets: $15 adv/$20 door
Darrell Scott is a songwriter, an in-demand instrumentalist and an acclaimed performer and recording artist - all achievements earned while burning his own path instead of playing by the accepted rules of the music industry.

He has recently launched Full Light Records (distributed by Ryko Distribution) so he can fully own and control his recordings. The first release on Full Light, the pointedly titled THEATRE OF THE UNHEARD, rescues material lost when a major label decided not to release Scott’s first solo album 12 years ago. In January 2005, THEATRE OF THE UNHEARD won the 4th Annual Independent Music Award’s Album of the Year honor.

Scott’s long since proven that his songs deserve recognition. As a songwriter, he’s contributed a string of hits that reads like a list of the best modern country music has to offer. There’s the Grammy Award winning “Long Time Gone” and “Heartbreak Town,” both top hits for the Dixie Chicks. “Great Day to be Alive” helped Travis Tritt complete his comeback; “Born to Fly” was a No. 1 hit for Sara Evans, while “Family Tree” was successful for Darryl Worley and “When No One’s Around” extended Garth Brooks’ run. “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” was cut in the same year by both Patty Loveless and Brad Paisley. In 2004, Scott had songs recorded by Tim McGraw, Keb Mo, Mountain Heart, Julie Roberts, Kathy Mattea, Andy Griggs, Faith Hill, and others. In all, Scott has had more than 50 cuts by other artists.
His success led to ASCAP naming him Songwriter of the Year in 2002.

    Diana Jones
Offering her listeners a rare gift of original songs with uncommon depth and beauty infused with time-honored values of traditional American Music, Diana Jones has been called the new Emily Dickinson.
Like Dickinson, Diana's work is informed by the themes that have run through her life-love, loss, and redemption. Much of her music takes you on a journey back to her roots in the hills of Eastern Tennessee, though it's certainly not a direct route. Adopted as an infant and reared in New York, Diana was eventually reunited with her birth family and the music that had always moved her.
From the mournful lament of a dance hall girl, to the stomping melodic rant of a young woman's burial instructions, each of Diana's original songs draws life from the rich cross currents of country, country blues and mountain music. The result is vibrant, contemporary music with a gritty and timeless feel.
“My Remembrance of You,” slated for a February 2006 release date in both the US and UK, will be the first record on the NewSong Recordings label. Gar Ragland, the director of the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival, invited Diana to be the first artist on the new label after seeing her perform at the festival.
“Without question, Diana Jones is one of the most talented Americana artists I have heard in years. Her music cuts straight to the soul with the economy of small batch bourbon.”....Gar Ragland
While her involvement with NewSong has opened many doors, including an appearance on Mountain Stage, the nationally syndicated radio show, she is certainly not new to the songwriting community. Diana honed her skills in the fertile Austin, Texas music scene where she released her first recording, "Imagine Me". The critical acclaim and grass roots following that sprung up around this release caught the interest of Hamstien Publishing and Diana signed a deal to record her second record, "The One That Got Away”.
“Jones seems the consumate professional and studied singer-songwriter, staying within American Folk parameters while using blues and country elements that compliment rather than alter.”...The Austin Chronicle
Seeking time to write from an even deeper place, Diana moved to the Northeast to do some serious woodshedding in the hills of Western Massachusetts. "My Remembrance of You" features eleven of the finest songs from that effort. It includes performances by Jay Ungar on fiddle, Ferron singing harmony vocals, and Duke Levine playing mandolin, mandola and all manner of guitars.
Diana has won numerous songwriting awards during her career. She currently lives in Nashville Tennessee.

Kent's own: Chittlin' She's country. She's indie rock, She's folk and soul. She's all of them and none of them. Chittlin's sweet sound is at once haunting and soothing; a blend of different styles that results in a very unique brand of music, which she dubs "Alt. Music."

Chittlin' is making a name for herself by being distinct. While most musicians rush to place themselves in a cozy category, She went ahead and carved her own. Weather its delivering a mesmerizing "classic country" tinged balled on her guitar, or stomping out an "indie rock" anthem on her banjo, Chittlin' writes and performes with a sensitivity, rawness, and confidence well beyond her years.

Growing up in a musical household, Chittlin' found her flair for music early on. She was performing with her family band "One Way Rider" by age 8, and today plays the bass, guitar, and banjo. Currently she still tours with her family, playing rhythm guitar and singing lead and harmony vocals. She also plays bass in the popular Country Rock group "Wagon". But to truly understand Chittlin' is to see her in her element. Presenting her own original material solo, or with minimal accompaniment.
